we are more than thrilled to introduce one of our next brilliant speakers, Professor Marijana Braš, MD, PhD, psychiatrist and psychotherapist with a lecture called "Psycho-oncology".
Oncology as a field of medicine connects a multidisciplinary team of people, in which of course there must be a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist as an extremely important form of support for the patient and their family. It is well known that cancer can affect a person's psychological health and requires daily battles with the disease, but also with oneself.
Professor Marijana Braš, MD, PhD, is a psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Head of the Department of Palliative Medicine and Head of the Center for Palliative Medicine, Medical Ethics and Communication Skills at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb.
She finished postgraduate studies in psychotherapy at the School of Medicine and postgraduate studies in biomedicine at the School of Natural Sciences, University of Zagreb. She holds Master's Degree in Psychotherapy and Biomedicine and a PhD in Biomedicine.
She has served as President of the Croatian Society for Palliative Medicine of the Croatian Medical Association and is now President of the Zagreb's Institute for the Culture of Health. She is also the founder and head of the course Communication in Medicine, lecturer of the course Fundamentals of Medical Skills and founder and head of the course Palliative Medicine. She is a member of numerous national and international organizations (American Pain Society, European Association for the Communication in Medicine and Healthcare, etc.)
Special field of interest in her clinical practice are PTSP, psychosomatic medicine and palliative medicine. She is the author of 70 scientific papers, editor of 10 books and author of more than 40 chapters in teaching and other books.
