Dear friends,
It is our great pleasure to announce our next lecturer, Iva Kelava, MD, PhD who will tell you more about the differential diagnosis of vertigo.
Iva Kelava graduated from University of Zagreb Medical School in 2010. After her trainee internship at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases 'Fran Mihaljević', she worked at the Croatian Institute for Emergency Medicine. As of December, 2012, she has been employed at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in the Sisters of Charity Hospital in Zagreb. She defended her PhD thesis 'The diagnostic value of wideband tympanometry in patients who suffered from otosclerosis' on September 11th, 2019. In her lecture she will discuss the differential diagnosis of vertigo. Vertigo is an illusion of movement of the body or the environment. Vertigo is a common nonspecific complaint in patients coming to the emergency department. Careful history taking and examination are required to distinguish vertigo from other nonrotational types of dizziness such as presyncope, disequilibrium and lightheadedness.
