We are pleased to announce our next lecturer, Professor Iva Dekaris MD, PhD, who will tell you more about corneal diseases and transplant surgery procedures.
Iva Dekaris is the Medical Director of University Eye Hospital “Svjetlost”, president-elect of the European Eye Bank Association and associate-member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts. She obtained her medical degree, masters and PhD degree at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine. She trained in ophthalmology at the University of Zagreb and Harvard Medical School in Boston and finished a postdoctoral Cornea Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School. She was the first surgeon in south-eastern Europe to start with modern transplantation techniques - lamellar corneal grafts and transplantation of corneal limbal stem cell transplantation. In her lecture she will present the newest modern corneal transplantation techniques. She will talk about about how these advanced techniques, such as lamellar transplantation, are performed and the benefits they provide to the patients who undergo them.
